Flame Proof Wiring.
In many cases in the transport industry, you may be faced with the need to have your towing vehicle setup with “flame proof wiring”.
Take for example a fuel / gas transport vehicle. Any situation where the possibility exists that there could be a spark produced by wiring faults while there is a presence of a combustable fuel, could result in an obviously volatile situation. Something as simple as putting a vehicle in reverse while it is equiped with a faulty reverse beeper could result in a spark and subsequently a disaster.
To be “flame proofed” all wiring / harnesses etc must be properly terminated, and enclosed in conduit. The joins must be enclosed on junction boxes, batteries and starter motors must have isolators installed. The list goes on…
